About
This course provides students with theoretical knowledge on developmental psychopathology. Students acquire knowledge on most common problems in youth, age specific characteristics of psychopathology and developmental transactional explanatory models for youth psychopathology. Students will also acquire theoretical and applied knowledge on psychological assessment and diagnostic decision-making process. Students will get acquainted with some assessment instruments that can be used to test some âtypicalâ hypothesis in the Child and Youth clinical practice.
If necessary a modified (largely online) version of the course will be offered to future CCaAP master students. We will keep students timely informed.
Students will also learn how to apply their knowledge of normal development and developmental psychopathology to the assessment process for children and adolescents.
In 2021 this course is mainly organized for students that intent to follow the master âClinical Child & Adolescent Psychologyâ, but who do not entirely meet the admission requirements. The aim of this course is twofold. First, this course provides students with theoretical knowledge on developmental psychopathology. Students acquire knowledge on most common problems in youth, age specific characteristics of psychopathology and developmental transactional explanatory models for youth psychopathology. Students will also learn how to apply this knowledge for clinical use. Second, students will acquire theoretical and applied knowledge on psychological assessment and diagnostic decision-making process. Emphasis is on the diagnostic cycle, a model for psychological decision making, and the Assessment for Intervention model. Students will get acquainted with some assessment instruments, that can be used to test some âtypicalâ hypothesis in the Child and Youth clinical practice. Students will also learn how to apply their knowledge of normal development and developmental psychopathology to the assessment process for children and adolescents.
The course will be given 'on campus', with Corona regulations as they are at that time. It is possible to arrive a week earlier if quarantine rules apply for travels from your home-country.
