This course is part of a 5-day PhD Summer School programme.

Academic presentations, as delivered at conferences, often bear a negative reputation. They are perceived as dull and abstract, and while this may hold true for some, exceptions notwithstanding, is it possible to alter this perception? Certainly. This workshop introduces participants to techniques, partially derived from TED Talks, designed to not only convey the substance of one’s research to the audience but also to cultivate an appreciation for the presenter’s style.
